Repro antique Victorian floral transferware Ceramic Tile
Transferware tiles were originally produced using a decorative technique that was developed in England in the mid-1700s. Although transferware designs were sometimes filled in with color glazes by hand, the design was first fired onto the tile, which made decorative tiles and other items printed using this method more affordable than labor-intensive and more costly hand-painted tiles. This made transferware tiles very popular and widely used.

From the pictures we needed to replace two tiles that had the old toothbrush and soap dish and the tile guy said two tiles would have to be removed. The tiles were PERFECT! just a slight color difference to the naked eye but they match pretty darn good. Tile guy had to shave the back because the 1957 tile was thinner but as you can see it worked out great! We are elated over the moon happy, Thank you!
