Repro De Morgan Red Lustre+Silver Fantastic Ducks Ceramic Tile
De Morgan (1839-1917) was an important Arts & Crafts movement artist and was the head of tile production at William Morris's studio. His work was influenced by Persian and Islamic art and featured stylized flora and fauna from both life and fantasy.
The original of this fantastic ducks tile was made with a red luster glaze, the favorite of Lewis Carroll (Charles Dodson), the author of Alice in Wonderland, who had two fireplace surrounds in his home tiled with De Morgan's red lustre tiles.
We also have this tile in blue.
