Sami, the People of Eight Seasons Sweatshirt

This design is dedicated to the Sami people, the People of Eight Seasons. Their languages, traditional clothing, handicrafts, and music are distinctively different from other ethnic groups in Scandinavia. In Sweden there are some 44 native communities where the families derive most of their income from their caribou (reindeer), an economy that in most cases is combined with fishing, hunting, and crafts. A majority of the Sami population are obliged to pursue other careers, because there isn't enough space for everyone in a habitat that is constantly shrinking due to mining operations, clear-cutting of the forests, and the construction of hydroelectric power-plants.
