Savannah Municipal Airport Travis Field Historic Postcard
Vintage postcard illustrated by the Tichnor Brothers in the 1930s-40s, of the Savannah Municipal Airport. It was opened on September 20, 1929, and in 1932 it was named Hunter Field. In the 40s, if war had started, The Chatham Army Air Corps proposed to take it over. It was developed more, during a time prior to WWII, and then used for bomber and crew training for B-24 bombers during WWII. In 1948, Chatham Army Air Corps renamed the terminal and airport to Travis Field and turned it over the Georgia Air National Guard. In honor of Savannah native Brigadier General Robert F. Travis, killed in a crash of a B-29 bomber near Fairfield-Suisun AFB, California, and his brother, Colonel William Travis.

I had never seen these classic science fiction images and most of my friends have not seen them either. They are like little treasures! Amazing quality and fun to send people!

I joined Postcrossing a few months ago and wanted postcards to represent my state well. I found them on Zazzle. I purchased numerous cards and was impressed with all of them. Excellent! The colors are beautiful. The cards have the exact look I wanted. I couldn't be happier.
