Scarce 1880 Brooklyn NY Panorama Poster

The original 1880 panorama of early Brooklyn New York is so detailed that some business names can be read on the buildings. This scan of a section of that antique panorama of Brooklyn was enlarged to 47.6" wide by 18" high to give the viewer as much detail as possible. Sites that are identified on this section include: the Brooklyn Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge pier, Snake Hill, the Erie Railroad depot, the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western (D L &W) Railroad depot, Hoboken, the Passionist Monastery in West Hoboken, Castle Point, Union Hill, Weehawken, St. Nicholas, Catharine Market, Catherine Ferry, St. Alphonse Church (S. 5th Avenue), St. James Church, St. Johns Church, Shot Tower, James Slip Ferry, New York Life Insurance Company, Roosevelt Street ferry, Court House, N.Y. Staats Zeitung, City Hall, N.Y. Tribune, Erie Railroad depot in Jersey City, Harper Brothers, post office, a second Shot Tower, and the New York Herald. On the bridge one can see horses and carriages, people on foot and horseback, and horses pulling trolleys. In the river one sees beautiful tall-masted sailing ships, a ferry marked "Garden City" and many ships berthed at the pier. The original panorama -- and this scan -- has a slight color gradation from more grays on the left to more sepia on the right and that has not been tampered with.
