Scottish Guthrie Clan's Castle Keepsake Magnet

While Guthrie Castle, near Dundee, Scotland, is not quite that old, it was the property of the Scottish clan by the same name from the 1400s until it was sold in 1984. The name “Guthrie” is prominent in Angus, less than 20 miles northeast of Dundee as the castle, clan and village all carry it. The Guthrie family descends from Robert the Bruce through the marriage of Alexander Guthrie, 2nd of Guthrie, and Margaret Lyon of Glamis. The structure began as a tower house in the 15th century when Scotland’s Treasurer and Lord Justice-General, Sir David Guthrie, had it built. The photo features an image of Guthrie Castle as a photographer peeked over a hedge of the privately owned property and framed the castle towers with an overhanging tree limb. "Guthrie Clan" prints in a dominant sans serif font in a pale silvery gray that coordinates with the castle walls and the sky the day the photo was shot.
