Species: Heliaactis bellis, Mesacmaea stella, Aiptasia couchii = Aiptasia mutabilis, Cylista impatiens = Choriactis impatiens, Bunodes thallia, Metridium paetextum, Heliactis troglodytes, Anthea cereus, Aiptasia undata, Aiptasia diaphana, Bunodes monilifera, Corynactis viridis, Metridium concinnatum, Sagartia chrysophlenium, Actinoloba dianthus. Ernst Heinrich Philipp August Haeckel (February 16, 1834 – August 9, 1919), also written von Haeckel, was an eminent German biologist, naturalist, philosopher, physician, professor and artist who discovered, described and named thousands of new species, mapped a genealogical tree relating all life forms, and coined many terms in biology, including phylum, phylogeny, ecology and the kingdom Protista. Sea anemones are a group of water dwelling, predatory animals of the order Actiniaria; they are named after the anemone, a terrestrial flower. As cnidarians, sea anemones are closely related to corals, jellyfish, tube-dwelling anemones, and Hydra.
