This garden and farming mug features a collage of public domain seed packet and seed catalog art available on the Public Domain. The artwork features hollyhocks, sweet peas, and other flowers, as well as vegetables like lettuce, watermelon, and pumpkins. The image are bordered in green and hunter green. The mug shown here has green trim on the inside and on the handle as well.
Seed packets and catalogs help tell the stories of American farm life, heritage and culture, and they also can convey which plant varietals were grown during specific years. This artwork has been treated with a filter that simulates cloth, which enhances the vintage feel.
Most of the seed catalogs are from the late 1800s and early 1900s. The background on the front and back is an off-white ecru.
