Although the simple thistle is more colorful with it’s blueish/purple flowers through the end of the Summer and into the early Fall, they are still rather photogenic into the Winter. The best photo opportunities occur during the Fall when they can be captured along with Gold Finches and other birds pulling out the feathery ends of the thistle that has gone to seed.
