This design features a sketch by the French artist Paul-Albert Besnard (1849–1934). It shows a pony standing tall in its stable. The animal is shown in profile. It has strong muscles and a determined look on its face. A pony is a small horse (Equus ferus caballus). A pony may be a horse that is under a certain height at the withers or it may simply be a small horse with a specific temperament. A pony is typically under the height of 14.2 hands high (and a hand is equal to roughly 4 inches). However, some full-sized horses are sometimes called ponies as a term of endearment. This original sketch was produced in 1892.
