Soda - We serve Lozak 1920

Colorized photo from 1920 Original title: People's drug store interior Photographer: National Photo Location: 7th & E, N.W. Washington DC Some of you may remember these, they were called soda fountains. Used as a place to get some refreshing soda, ice cream, or a mixture of the two. It was a place for a social gathering. I'm not sure where they sat at this one though. Soda fountains were created in pharmacies, I believe it was used to help make the medicine go down smoother. As they developed over the years, the morphed into selling other things. Some have cake like this one, or sandwiches, others had candy. They started to vanish from the scene when both soda and ice cream were sold in supermarkets. Making it an every day drink and not a once in a while special treat. It's probably why they sold sandwiches as well, perhaps you would like to try the olive and mayannaise sandwich? (It's not mayo as we know it, back then that version was yellow and served as a kit, where you added white dye and salt). By now your probably asking, what the heck is Lozak? Lozak was a company that made a yogurt like drink, made from Bulgarian cow milk. They used a combo of Lactic Acid, Bulgarian Bacillus, and egg albumen. It was thick to drink, but was supposed to be good for the stomach and the bowels. It was that good poop yogurt you hear about these days. It sold for 5 cents a glass, and was only found in soda fountains.

It looked exactly like my art piece. The colors were accurate and I think it suited the card well.
