Sons of Liberty Rebel Stripes Button
The Liberty Boys, or the Sons of Liberty, we the political vanguard of the American Revolution. Their flag, one of the first truly American standards, was comprised of nine alternating white and red lines, representing the number of colonies that were to attend the Stamp Act Congress. The Liberty Boys kept their identities secret - sometimes even keeping involvement from their families - as the British Crown could draw and quarter you for resistance .
It's doubtless, then, that under these conditions that the Sons of Liberty created neatly sewn flags. More likely, the symbols of the resistance were often haphazardly splashed on sheets, walls, and clothing.
This design is an homage to the resistance of that age, for the resistance of this one. Just like the Sons of Liberty then were protesting the mercantilism and corruption of their age, the modern does in this one.
