Spruce Trees in contrasting monochrome tones of black, white and shades of gray, a color scheme which brings out the beautiful organic shapes of the trees. Spruce are evergreen conifers, in that they retain their green needles or leaves all winter, and they produce cones which open up to release tiny seedlings. Spruce trees belong to the Pinea or pine family. The Black Spruce is among the most common trees in northern Canada and also in the Black Forest (Schwarzwald) in Germany.
