The image was made by remixing a traditional Catholic devotional image from the designer’s private collection of religious ephemera with elements from various public domain resources. The golf club he holds in his right hand replaces a cudgel significantly thicker at one end than the other in the original artwork. Ironically perhaps, according to some accounts, St. Jude was martyred by being beaten to death with a club before being beheaded postmortem. + Here, St. Jude appears in a scene touched by genial Christian humor with a semi-realistic vintage comic PD character.
