St. Raphael the Archangel & Tobias (detail; M 017) Faux Canvas Print

St. Raphael and Tobias are the focal point of the painting Three Archangels and Tobias by Francesco Botticini (1446-1498), a minor master of the Early Italian Renaissance. In this detail, St. Raphael gazes down at Tobias as if about to speak. A blond, curly-haired Tobias--just barely visible here- looks up in eager anticipation. St. Raphael wears an openwork halo, a blue robe, a red and gold brocade mantle with a green velvet lining, and has peacock feather wings. Tobias wears a blue tunic and red cape with a golden yellow lining. The contours of the figures are precisely delineated.
