Starry, Starry Night Tote Bag

Starry, Starry Night Tote Bag

The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh is one of the most recognized paintings in Western Art. Painted in June 1889, it depicts the view from the east-facing window of his asylum room at Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, just before sunrise, with the addition of an imaginary village. Despite the large number of letters Van Gogh wrote, he said very little about The Starry Night. After reporting that he had painted a starry sky in June, Van Gogh next mentioned the painting in a letter to Theo on or about 20 September 1889, when he included it in a list of paintings he was sending to his brother in Paris, referring to it as a "night study." Of this list of paintings, he wrote, "All in all the only things I consider a little good in it are the Wheatfield, the Mountain, the Orchard, the Olive trees with the blue hills and the Portrait and the Entrance to the quarry, and the rest says nothing to me"; "the rest" would include The Starry Night. When he decided to hold back three paintings from this batch in order to save money on postage, The Starry Night was one of the paintings he did not send. Finally, in a letter to painter Émile Bernard from late November 1889, Van Gogh referred to the painting as a "failure."

This is so adorable that I gave it to my sister right away. It is her dog on the front and when she saw it I just knew I had to gift it to her. She loves it, we all love it, the quality and color is excellent. She has used it every day since. Looks great, nice and even with good color on the background, very much what I wanted. A real useful and quality product.

As soon as I saw this bag, I got very excited. These colors are so vivid. Great gift to give to dear friend or keeping it for yourself. The tote bag is very vivid. The print came out beautiful. I am very pleased with my order. To make the colors of the trees pop, I used white fabric paint on the trees.
