Stock Exchange Building, Copenhagen, Denmark Postcard

"Renaissance Stock Exchange Building, Copenhagen, Denmark" by Catherine Sherman. Børsen (Danish for "the bourse" or "the stock exchange") is a 17th-century commodity bourse and later stock exchange in the center of Copenhagen, Denmark. The historic building is situated next to Christiansborg Palace, the seat of the Danish Parliament, on the island of Slotsholmen. The Stock Exchange displays ornate Renaissance architecture. The spire with a twisting design of adds a distinctive feature to the skyline, while modern cars and bicycles show the blend of old and new in a bustling city setting. The Borsen was built under the reign of Christian IV in 1619–1640. The building is considered a leading example of the Dutch Renaissance style in Denmark. It is a protected building for conservation purposes. A popular tourist attraction, Børsen was most noted for its distinctive spire, shaped as the tails of four dragons twined together, reaching a height of 56 meters (184 feet). On April 16, 2024, the building was severely damaged by a fire, which toppled the spire. The CEO of the Danish Chamber of Commerce, which owns the building, said that it would be rebuilt "no matter what".

I joined Postcrossing a few months ago and wanted postcards to represent my state well. I found them on Zazzle. I purchased numerous cards and was impressed with all of them. Excellent! The colors are beautiful. The cards have the exact look I wanted. I couldn't be happier.
