Sugar Bowl/Candy Jar - Peachy Keen Carnation

There's a wealth of information out there regarding carnations. Generally speaking, they are said to be a symbol of health and energy, fascination and love and distinction. Carnations are the birth flower for the month of January; are representative of the first wedding anniversary; are the National Flower of Spain and, in 1904, became the Ohio State Flower in honor of native son, President McKinley, our 25th President. Though there are a number of carnation colors today, pink and peach carnations date back to ancient Greece and Rome. More recent history: In 1908, Anna Jarvis (the founder of Mother's Day), delivered 500 carnations so the "official" flower of Mother's Day is said to also be the carnation -- some say pink, some say red, others say in general. Though the pink and peach carnations are said to symbolize gratitude and a mother's love, the striped carnations are reputed to say, "I'm sorry I can't be with you, but I wish I could."
