Summer's Day in Cleveland (Horses and Hound Dogs) Mug
This design features a print by British artist Heywood Hardy (1842–1933), who was renowned as an animal painter and painter of horse riding scenes. It shows a group of horse riders wearing formal clothes as they ride along the beach with a large number of dogs following them. The dogs are traditional hunting dogs, possibly English foxhounds. The men on horseback are wearing red coats, except for one who is wearing a grey suit; they are all wearing hats. They are on a beach near Cleveland, which is a city in the US state of Ohio (and the county seat of Cuyahoga County). It is an elegant depiction of horse riders and their hounds in the 19th century. The original art was painted in 1889.
