Thomas Jefferson: Architect, lawyer, writer and the 3rd President of the United States. Born in 1743 in Albemarle County, Virginia, he studied at the College of William and Mary and became a student of law. A firm believer in the strength of republican government, he remains an icon of liberty and individual rights to this day. He died on July 4, 1826, within hours of his friend and fellow patriot John Adams. The quote, 'The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.' is only one of many attributed to this great man regarding the printed press and those who claim to represent the truth.
