Tanuki Kanji Japanese Calligraphy Postcard

This cute postcard has Japanese calligraphy for the kanji 狸. It means tanuki. Tanuki, also known as Japanese Racoon Dogs, are a real animal, but also a youkai. Youkai are Japanese sprits known in Japanese folklore to do all sorts of mischievous things. The tanuki was known to transform into different forms. Not pictured are his "lucky balls" (he is a family friendly tanuki.) They appear in much Japanese media, including anime. The calligraphy was handwritten by me on a tablet. The yellow, green, and brown background add a natural touch. A good gift for someone who likes Japanese culture. About kanji: A kanji is the Japanese word for Chinese character. Chinese characters represent an idea into one character. Typically, one part of the kanji is the meaning of the character, while the other gives it the sound. They are usually combined with other kanji to make complex words. Did you know you don't need an envelope to send a postcard? You can save a little money that way, especially if you use the postcard stamp. But if you want an envelope, chose the regular postcard.
