About This Design

Tex and Joy Honoring the Granite Mountain Hotshot Postcard

THOUGHT OF MY DAY- "I Am"---the 2 words I find to be so profound because what you say after it sets your reality yet alone the two words is enough...ok, we met the Granite Mountain Hotshot and my gps stated elevation was elevation 5451 N34*13.530 W 112.47.227 118' and alot of that area is a blend of private, state land & blm so please know your area as well as note there is 320 acres currently restricted and my best suggestion for legalities is climb up from the base of hwy 89 in Congress to that coordinate and it use to be a tough terrain yet it is all burnt now- please do not disturb unless you know and are permitted the private areas of Glen Ilah and Yarnell- Now you will see Acri has sign off Foothill next to that barn on a gate to keep out yet let me explain something- that road is odd because it is land locked with 4 acre properties yet the road in belongs to a private person and technically Acri can put that sign up for his property WAY back in but its not HIS road to really post such yet I understand why he does. for example right beyond the Helms' home is the memorial and where the flagpole/fence is so that is restricted and off limits and that home has got about 60+ acres so you know- another example people may not realize is where Mountainnaire meets Candy Cane Lane that piece of road belongs to Leigh Bennett and they could block the road if they wanted too- and Frasier from Prescott has the almost 40 acres that is part of the road that goes to Acri and that person could even block Acri from his land if he choose to because that person owns that road. Nu-Hart LLC owns the road that Acri thinks is his keep out area and technically not facts. So let me share FACTS, Acri's property would be considered land locked if he does not have a written easement to all the roads I just mentioned or the road owners just don't say anything but anyways my point is that area is tricky so do not feel free to hike it unless you know it IS my point. Maughan Ranch has private rights for cattle/grazing to alot of that area back there and how you can figure they pay agriculture grazing right taxes not like residential or commercial land- sometimes just $20-100 for 320 acres so that's pretty good- OX ranch explained it to me one time - see the low taxes that means grazing rights property for ranchers from the state- Baluco Trust is off Sesame Street- I can go on ALL day on where and why things are off limits yet that gives you heads up yet Tex states they have to as well as Deputy Levin said at last briefing- there has to be a sign stating no trespassing or keep out-The sign must be conspicuously posted at an area that can be seen by all in a normal place. We are working on a sign for the Shrine- 7/25/13 I did email Brian M. that I changed my mind and will do that hike for his fire story- I was just hoping we could meet at the coordinates but it seems people think Brian going along can get the feel but really I find that to be rubbish because the terrain is no longer tough or thick in vegetation so no one can get a feel but us hikers, the ranchers, the wildlife that perished in that fire and the Hot Shots that experienced it before hand- plus a lot of the area is restricted and may be forever restricted they stated- 320 acres may become hallowed ground- sacred. I can state my life forever changed because an area I hiked is now being restricted to me and no one gets how disappointing that in itself is because I had a bond with my town and surrounding areas' wildlife so I feel like I have been ripped from my desert family over the fire that was avoidable- no one can understand that sadness because people think wildlife just know better yet I had to see my desert meets the mountain air wildlife laying there dead on the aftermath hike and to me it runs deeper than the 19 perished- I lost my right to hike were I always did so a place can be called hallowed- and I lost some of my wildlife family...you can view my hiking page and see I have an unusual bond to the desert animals- Yes, we will hike with you yet I am not like "ohhh, ahhh" like some may be when a reporter or journalist asks- yet some think you may be the very tool to get the creative inside look to this fire and I am the gal that knows this terrain even when I was blind temp. when a rattlesnake got me one time---I know this area blind and I know Tex feels his way- the harder way was the way out yet to this day I also feel my way may of worked- but I accept he gave the safer way out- HARDER way out my medical massager would say to all with my poor health- 8/10/13 8:15am- This past week has come and gone yet I have to publicly thank Stacey P. from "B-Wear, a Unique Boutique... Vintage, Custom, and Up-scale Resale." Featuring purses, jewelry, clothing, and artwork by local artists. OPEN Tuesday through Saturday 9am to 3pm- I have always loved her- when she worked at the bank when Jerry S. was in town and when she was mayor- Okay here is an email from to: Cheryl SDWP <cheryl@sdwebpro.com> date: Sat, Aug 10, 2013 at 8:01 AM Hi. I’ve posted links to the Arizona Republic article reporting the denial and a link to a Whitehouse petition to appeal the decision on http://www.y-pvchamber.com/YarnellHillFire.htm Guess we were all expecting this and, like so many things people lost that weren’t covered by insurance, we can just kiss our old pickup truck good-bye. C'est la vie. I know our community will get through this, and come out stronger and prettier and better than ever. AND MY REPLY PUBLICLY NOT PERSONALLY TO THAT- The fire began on state land and none of the fire really touched federal land- less than 1%- what appx 4-5 acres is federal over there- and the final tragedy happened on state border to private land (Helms) but it was on state property. 8/10/13 3:54pm- Tex is asleep and I want to share something real quick (maybe going to Muleshoe BBQ) First off, sorry to all who face losses may it be loss of life or loss of home and things...etc. It breaks my heart. I remained here in Yarnell even though I am your Congress woman to make sure I am close to help you get through this & thanks to God, Phil, John and Tex- I can! Tex and I met 8/23/11 and its been one heck of a journey and he has 2 pending court concerns because of our life perception differences and he does not deserve jail or prison time over it I do believe I won't give up on him for God but boy I personally want to many times because he has such behaviors that can get me in a mood too. Yet my moods happen as a reaction to his digs and ughs when I am ill or tired- kinda like a mom and her toddler- when a mom is ill the kid tests her- I have lost way over a hundred pounds in knowing Tex so he does help me as much as I help him and we make a decent hiking team- HOME IS THE DESERT was a book I read by Ann Woodin as a kid and she sparked my interest in my passion for Arizona's desert. without reading her book and meeting the many pioneers in this state I would not be embarked on this long hiking adventure. Thank you Ann for writing such a fantastic book that I have read over and over as a kid, as a teen and as an adult. Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to publish this book. That 6-30-13 has me puzzled and sad and torn even today. These men. I would hope one day the investigation reveals who even allowed these men to be there. The fire began on state land and the tragedy of the fallen 19 was at the border of the Helms property yet still on state land. Who is held responsible? Than there is the Federal funding concern. I know tomatoes will be thrown my way yet looking at facts it is not the responsibility of the Govt on this matter- going on facts of fire and damage amount. YES, this will impact this small town in so many ways from taxes to business' to water co. & electric and even the off the grid folks cannot stay in that shaded odd densed vegetated area anymore and so many areas- yet this to me is where the churches should dip into their funds and let God guide them to use the church funds to help this tiny town get back to balanced mind/body/spirit & their homes. We know a lot of faiths have a huge bank account so to me that should be the Godly thing to do versus Govt thing that is not there responsibility based on facts. I will state this I hope in the end whoever ordered those aircrafts in at such low altitudes and we witnessed the fires being fanned way too long as they observed/hovered- there definitely has to be accountability to some degree for those actions- we acknowledge later in the day it was the weather change but that fire indeed was tiny and containable that even I could of put it out- wasn't it Woody Grantham's brother that was told NO to putting it out and what about the local fire dept. they were told NO and I have to stick up for Virgil from Congress Fire because we were at the fire line- it could of burnt out on its own had the aircrafts remained away until that weather change- they are guilty for stirring the fire (fanning) and we also hope one day someone tells the people WHERE Brendan was exactly on the map because we did not see him and any vehicle, aircraft or people were photographed- we for our peace would like to know when the investigation reveals all where was Brendan's coordinates. Also, we spoke to Eric Marsh- he did not seem like a man who would take his men to fueled area without their gear especially save a ranch- my opinion because I was there and I hiked MORE than they did that day and that week- and I know that heat was 100-107 that day PLUS the mountaintop THICKNESS in the air from the smoke that I truly felt they had to die first from smoke or that THICK air and heat- it tears me up that Brendan is only recognized as the sole survivor when Tex and I were at the fire line and in that area the same time on the top not Brendan way out on the base area yet we have not ever been in the media as surviving that fire and how we survived was to take the harder way that Tex directed- We only went out that way to give a report to locals of Congress since my home is there and to Ronda Carnes and to Yarnell folks and when we got back I thought Congress and Peeples Valley but never thought Yarnell would be effected- nope. What people do not know but that terrain was time consuming that the 19 went down- it was not easy. 4 small fires on Yarnell side so I just do not get it. why was N14HX helicopter going so low even with no water bags on that mountain top? why? Well, I am in support of private wealthy organizations like churches and such to fix the financial concern here versus Gov't being this started and ended on state land- the Gov't could give breaks on taxes for the ones who lost their homes or effected ( If ever you wanted to pay out for hearing our last moments with the Hot Shots- Joy does not want any funds and both Tex and Joy agree the funds should go directly to Glen Ilah/Yarnell/Peeples Valley business' as well as the residents directly effected by loss or partial loss of home (names to directly give to who were effected--partial- G Ryan of Boulder Oaks on Lakewood; .59acres- I think he use to live where I am from in Congress and is from Oregon area- around 71 yrs old), W./B. We left them items from United Way shovels, rakes, brooms, trash bags, water, food, paper towels, toilet paper, cleaning supplies and we did that for appx 500 folks when we returned hence the grounds Mary evicted and in the manner she did Jack/Chris/Tex thought she deserved a humanitarian award (soft giggles Debra/Jan R)- sorry for all who were evicted after the fire by Oak Park manager- the new ones Robert and Denise did well yet it seemed the ol' one had her own ideas. We to this day like her and her husband and pets yet I will not be buffaloed to hear I am not allowed there as the caregiver when she knew when we looked at place originally the funds came out of our (John's $) pocket and the electric was in our name (John/Joy) not Tex so I had more a right to be there than Tex- we were just getting him a place versus the desert being him staying at my home did not work with Nick/John's schedule and Tex was broke. Mary was wrong in HOW she treated me and the situation all the way until the end where she called a deputy out- I kept the place in top notch- I found the keys yet Tex/son already was putting new lock in and the fridge deal was wrong- Robert told us it was stored until we left and Mary held Tex responsible so thank you to United Way/Choo Choo for your help there. Ok back to the names---J Flippen, special request because I personally was hit hard when her home burned- it was unique with metal and stonewall and she just told me 8/10/13 when she gave me a 19 banner to hang at U-Stow It window and she laughed because there was no shovels at her place just cleaning supplies so she looked at her burnt home and thought what is there to Spic-n-Span??? I wish I was there but PLEASE because she has always been a joy for me when I visited the bank when Jerry went back in 07-09' time when she was Mayor- she has B-Wear Boutique and I hope something special happens for her as a direct funds help- PO BOX 731 Yarnell 85362, R Arklin, G Case, F West, S Smith, D Wilson, J&J Smith, Leigh Bennett, Silvia and we love Christina Cooper/Patti Rutherford at the Yarnell Library and since I, Joy, have always been about donating in my hometown area of Congress to the librarians there Maryanne and Dorothy I am a HUGE supporter of funds going to Yarnell library and as well the Senior/Community Center ran by Scott Shephard ( http://www.yarnellcommunitycenter.org/ ) who has a powerful team of volunteers on both the store end and the food end- we truly appreciate them. We also support the post office as well as Margaret Ramsey's food bank. I think donating to the many hours volunteered from the men and women at the Choo Choo/Kay Huckleberry as well- let us not forget the wonderful stuff Phil Snyder and Pamela Freeman did for the communities (U-Stow It) so they deserve a cut in any funds go anywhere- but no funds to me is all but I gave you all enough places to offer it. Thank you to the churches that have come to this town and volunteered thousands of hours- I hope my list helps world-wide for YOU the person to DECIDE who to give to but if you are looking for organizations than go to Scott's page for the links- http://www.yarnellcommunitycenter.org/ I think some of us like to give to organiztions but some of us like to be a bit more personal in our giving so I have now giving you the choice to choose and I did my best to give you a little bit on what I know of the person because some folks want to help just the elders who lost so I hope you help- I am hear to share my hike that day with 100 % GRACE and 100% TRUTH- Volunteers from Margaret Ramsey's food bank, the Presb Church, Red Cross, the Salvation Army, Arizona Southern Baptist Disaster Relief and other groups have stepped up to help residents clear debris from their properties.) and have to rebuild before Winter so I do believe that a break should be given and like I told all media sources if you plan to pay me for anytime I talk to you (royalty speaking as I keep hearing from locals/family/friends and I refuse to take any monies yet if they insist I want it to go DIRECTLY to someone that faced a loss not an organization--------- )- if you are wanting to pay me than please do not donate to churches locally but DO donate to Yarnell Library, Senior Community Center, Post Office, Business', and directly to the people who were effected...give directly to them- I also feel Lions Club stepped up to the plate immediately as well as United Way so I also state donate to them. I am not dissing the churches but I always felt along with a lot in the community who expressed to me and than I thought...yeah- ok- I can see why they question in their minds...why did they directly make ONE church the main incoming source for this whole community- I felt along with others and me joining the band wagon...they should of joined it together as ONE unit and not separated it to just one church- because I never hear about the Catholic church or the Lighthouse...etc...and just a few meetings at the Assembly of God...so yes, that has bothered me coming back and others- Also, no one has ever understood the pain we feel for being the last ones to in person talk and see those Hotshots- too surreal and sad. I wish Pres. Obama sent to the ones effected here a financial break in taxes or something- I APPLAUD Denny Foulk, Hughe, Joan, Rachel for their HARD work. I applaud the people who came down to do the free haircut day. I applaud the many volunteers- that is mainly all we have done coming back here has volunteered- it will take that to rebuild. We have a truck- let me know if you need any local help- if it is farther- we need money- gas guzzler it is- dually. Thank you for listening to me. bye for now. Tex just woke up- 4:27pm...maybe go to bbq now

I really loved this image -it's depiction of life back in the day of Trolley cars is really captured well.I ordered it as a photographic print and post card. I was pleased with the quality and the colors portrayed an evening scene. The light was captured well and really brought you back in time. It's a beautiful scene to put into a print! Turned out very well !

I've always been a fan of vintage mystery pulp images. This postcard was creative, mysterious, sexy, and fun all in one. I knew just who to send it to. I got a call as soon as she picked it out of the mailbox! very clear colors and great artistry. I really love the artists of the 50's and 60's.
