The Danaides by John William Waterhouse Ceramic Ornament
The Danaides (1903) by JW Waterhouse is a vintage Victorian Pre-Raphaelite fine art portrait painting. A portraiture of three sisters (the daughters of Danaus, King of Argos) who are condemned to Hades through eternity to pour water into a vessel with holes in the bottom. They were commanded to murder their husbands on their wedding night; all but one obeyed, and all were punished.
About the artist:
John William Waterhouse (1849-1917) was an English Preraphaelite painter most famous for his paintings of female characters from ancient Greek mythology and literature.

I love the symbolism in this piece! The olive branches and flowers reminding us of Gethsemane and the joy of the resurrection. The candle reminding us of Christ's light and love. I've dropped it a few times already and it has held together nicely. Couldn't be more pleased with this product! Would definitely buy again. The printing was as expected on the front. Clear colors. The back where the artist put her brand name was a bit faded, but still readable.

A quality, durable ornament. Fun to find the Glockenspiel photo online. Adding the cymbals and snare drum on the back brings back memories of my Marching days in school. Fun to design and another ornament to the tree of instruments I can play. The printing is crisp and bright.
