The Gr8ECT, as they are known, are like characters in an epic novel. We meet them early on -- in the first 100 pages or so -- then they vanish, the plot overtaken by larger events. Only many (many) pages later do they rejoin the story, stepping from the shadows to save the protagonist at some critical moment when all seems lost, upon which the reader knowingly nods ah yeah, I remember that guy. So, too, with the Gr8ECT. You are forgiven if you don't remember them. The Gr8ECT arrive at a dark time, that time being first semester calculus when you are young and (if you were like LabKitty) terrified. The full team is assembled by the time first semester calc comes to a close. Then: Second semester hits you like a sack of oranges. However (and this is the important part), there is no cosmic author that will reintroduce the Gr8ECT when the time comes. The onus is on you to remember, and remembering one of the Gr8ECT may be all that stands between you passing the class and not passing the class. Much is at stake indeed.
