The woman is the artist's wife Edith, the young girl is his daughter Sally and the baby boy is his son Ted. The women is smiling gently at the viewer, while the young girl looks bored and the baby boy is sleeping. The hammock is located in a lush garden with green trees and grass. The original artwork was painted by Joseph DeCamp in 1895.
