"The Magic of Christmas" 2022 Ornament

The Magic of Christmas Ornament Each year, I select one of my paintings to create a special Christmas ornament. This year’s ornament features The Magic of Christmas, inspired by one of my favorite childhood memories. One Christmas Eve, my sister and I were spending the night at our grandparents’ old farmhouse. As we settled into bed, we suddenly heard sleigh bells outside. We rushed to the window and were convinced we saw Santa and his reindeer flying through the moonlit sky after leaving gifts on our rooftop. To two excited little girls, it felt completely real—and completely magical. My grandmother, “Grandma Mac,” had a wonderful gift for making Christmas special. She filled our hearts with excitement, wonder, and joy, creating memories that have stayed with us throughout our lives. In this painting, I wanted to capture both the wonder of that Christmas Eve and the deeper meaning of the season. The image of Jesus hanging above the bed serves as a reminder that while Christmas is filled with treasured traditions and childhood excitement, Christ is the true reason we celebrate. Whether displayed on a Christmas tree or an ornament stand, this keepsake celebrates faith, family, childhood memories, and the enduring magic of Christmas. Inspired by a cherished Christmas memory at my grandparents’ farmhouse and the true meaning of the season.
