"The Open Road-Rt 66" Round Pillow

Those were the days! The pillow has a classic Pontiac driving the road. No doubt with a family inside. Remember the road, but also the chic TV show ROUTE 66? No? Route 66 is one of few series in the history of television to be filmed entirely on the road. In black & white kids, it premiered on CBS on October 7, 1960, and ran until March 20, 1964, for a total of 116 episodes. This was done at a time when the United States was much less homogeneous than it is now. I'm talking early sixties. People, their accents, livelihoods, ethnic backgrounds, and attitudes varied widely from one location to the next. Scripted characters reflected a far less mobile, provincial society, in which people were more apt to spend their entire lives in one part of the country. Similarly, the places were very different from one another visually, environmentally, architecturally, in goods and services available, etc. These young men in show travelled in a (first light blue; then brown) Corvette due to lighting issues on camera. Stars were a young Martin Milner and George Maharis, now in their eighties.
