The Railroad Army was the term used to replace railroad and railway workers who had gone into the Armed Forces in World War 2. Many railroads placed Patriotic ads in their timetables to help recruit workers for The Railroad Army Railroads also hired many Women to fill jobs that been done only by men. Railway companies also tried to hire back some retired workers who are still in good physical shape to do their former jobs to help out during the war.
