THE SEER FAUX CANVAS PRINT

Based on one of my experiences of being deaf, in that I hear by seeing. Not through sign-language but through methods such as lip-reading and subtitles. There is a strange incidence where everything sounds crystal clear when I am able to lip-read or have access to subtitles – but as soon as they go, the clarity of sound diminishes and becomes practically unintelligible. Almost like a foreign language. This piece reflects this through the use of spectral (rainbow) colours which represent visible light. Hence hearing by seeing. Lines also represent form, movement and sound (waves). The title is also a play on hearing and seeing – i.e. THE SEER and THIS EAR.
