This image is from Alphonse Mucha's famous Art Nouveau poster "Zodiac," also known as "La Plume.". "Zodiac" was designed in 1896 as a calendar printed by F. Champenois, Paris. Shortly thereafter, the popular French Magazine "La Plume" purchased the rights to Mucha's illustration. The image was widely popular, and it became synonymous with the Magazine.
Mucha became one of the most sought out artists of the Art Nouveau, but interestingly, he protested the "Art Nouveau" label, for it was his view that art is eternal and not "new." He strongly preferred his paintings to his posters, but the world has always sought out his posters. His paintings say volumes about the spirit of people and are very important, but for the most part, they are yet to be discovered by the world.

The minute I spotted this item I knew I HAD to order these for my daughter's wedding for the Hotel Goodie Bags since the wedding was held at a vineyard. The quality is great and they were a little bigger than I expected but worked out and will be useful to the recipients to tote their books, papers, lunch etc for future use. The picture shows what we put inside to welcome our hotel guests. I was very satisfied with the printing on the tote and I liked I was able to choose the font and size for the bag.
