TOUGH MEN of the OLD WEST 2 Poster

Around 1900, The Wild Bunch were the most prolific and successful train robbers in history. In this photograph, they appear to be dapper businessmen dressed in fine suits, decked out with pinky rings and gold pocket watches, and with a sophisticated demeanor. Butch and Sundance were around 33-years-old when the photo was taken in 1901. They operated out of the Hole in the Wall Hideout in Wyoming where several beautiful women catered to them and kept them out of harms way. The women were romantically involved off and on with some of the gang members. The gang pulled in several hundred thousand dollars back when that kind of money was worth something. Butch Cassidy boasted that he never killed anyone, but some members of the gang did not hesitate to dispatch anyone who got in their way. Several lawmen, bounty hunters and civilians were killed in the pursuit of the gang. Kid Curry alone killed 9 lawmen and 2 civilians and was widely regarded as the most notorious and dangerous man to confront during that era. All gang members met an early, and for some quite spectacular, death. Front row, from left: Harry A.
