Who doesn't want a poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima) at Christmas! They are plentiful in the stores during the Christmas season. It is so nice to have some colour in the house at winter. Did you know that December 12th is National Poinsettia Day! I didn't. We tend to get poinsettias as gifts every year around Christmas time. It is a good thing we like them! Poinsettias are the official flower of Christmas. Legend has it that a poor girl could not afford a gift for baby Jesus, so she lay some colourful poinsettia leaves by his feet. Such a sweet story.
