Trust (1888) by Charles Burton Barber is a vintage Victorian Era fine art animal portrait painting. A young girl is balancing a sugar cube on the nose of her pet Saint Bernard dog. She is one of nine children of Charles Churchill, a city timber broker. The Saint Bernard is a working dog from the Swiss Alps originally bred for rescue. About the Artist: Charles Burton Barber (1845-1894) was an English painter who achieved success with his paintings of children and their pets. During his lifetime Barber was regarded as one of England's finest animal painters.

I love the pattern, but it is much browner in person than the photo. Also after washing the back fabric shrinks more than the front fabric so the placemat is uneven. The printing is great except for the color which is much browner.
