A staple in the United Kingdom and Ireland during the festive period, the traditional mince pie is a sweet pie consisting of a mixture of spices, dried fruit, and suet, and baked in a shortcrust pastry. Variations are also popular in Australia and New Zealand, where it is known as a fruit mince pie, or in America as a mincemeat pie.
