The vintage botanical illustration is by naturalist and artist Isaac Sprague, from The Genera of the Plants of the United States, author Asa Gray, published 1849. This beautiful black and white botanical drawing is of the carnivorous plant Venus Flytrap. Scientific name Dionaea muscipula, it is the only member of the genus Dionaea in the sundew family, the Droseraceae. Native to coastal North Carolina and northern South Carolina, it grows in open bogs.

I ordered the stickers to showcase reviews for my book. I wanted to include as many accolades as possible, but also wanted to not overwhelm the reader. The stickers turned out fantastic. They take up just enough room in my book :). I was worried the image on the sticker would be blurry. The font is small, and I was hopeful that the audience would still be able to read it. This Vintage illustration was just right for our "From the Library of...."
Twenty years ago, we moved almost 1000 books from our home in Texas, to our new home
in Pennsylvania. Now we are downsizing and donating many of our reference books.
The bookplate reminds us of 1985, the friends we made and the books we've shared.
Thank you for making this special bookplate. The paper appeared like parchment and the antique illustration complimented it well.
