About This Design
Venus Flytrap Botanical Art Keychain
Do you love carnivorous plants? Here is a stylish keychain, featuring a vibrant botanical illustration of the Venus Flytrap. Makes a great gift for a florist, gardener, botanist, landscaper, or anyone who loves plants and botanical art. You can change the background color, if you’d like. Want this or a similar design on another item? Browse my BotanicalArt Shop. This floral artwork is our exclusive color version, based on the one by Isaac Sprague in The Genera of the Plants of the United States, author Asa Gray, published 1849. Adapted here in color, the original is in black and white. We also have the original black and white, as well as two different full color versions, in our shop. The carnivorous plant Venus Flytrap, scientific name Dionaea muscipula, is the only member of the genus Dionaea in the sundew family, the Droseraceae. It is native to coastal North Carolina and northern South Carolina, growing in open bogs. It is also a popular cultivated plant. The Venus Flytrap catches and digests its prey, mostly insects and arachnids, in the trapping structure, which is formed by the terminal portion of each of the plants leaves, and is triggered by tiny hairs on their inner surfaces.
