I got this marvelous image from a stack of stack of 1890s-1910 mounted prints owned by a retired antiques dealer, many of which originally appears in the newspapers of the time. True fact: back in the day, the Philadelphia Inquirer would publish full-size, full-color prints ever Sunday. Some of what I have are these original Inquirer prints. However, this lovely image came from a magazine of the period, and was captioned ‘Handsome Evening Toilettes.’ I can’t find any clothing-related definition of that word. I love the puzzle and recommend it to others but i was sad by how long it took to deliver my gift. It was shipped 2 months after I placed my order.
