This painting of sunflowers is part of Van Gogh's second set of beautiful impressionist sunflower paintings, which he created in 1888. The sunflowers are yellow against a background of light blue. As in all of Van Gogh's great pieces, Sunflowers is vibrant, with strong, exciting brushstrokes characteristic of the great impressionist artist.
