Vincent van Gogh - Wheat Field with a Lark Button

Wheat Field with a Lark, painted in 1887 in oil on canvas by Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh in Paris. A low viewpoint divides the landscape into broad bands of foreground, wheat and sky, while the bird rises above a field dotted with poppies and other small flowers. Painted in Paris, the work uses a brighter palette and broken brushwork than Van Gogh's earlier Dutch landscapes, yet it retains their strong, simple construction. Each part of the scene receives a distinct stroke pattern, making wind, crop and sky feel physically different.
