Wheatfield under Thunderclouds, painted in 1890 in oil on canvas by Dutch Post-Impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh in Auvers-sur-Oise. A vast band of wheat stretches beneath a darkening blue sky and heavy clouds in the wide double-square format Van Gogh favored during his final weeks. He painted the canvas shortly after a difficult visit to Paris, simplifying the landscape into large horizontal masses of field and weather.
