Vintage - A Pair of Pugs, Cards
Vintage artwork titled "A Pair of Pugs" by John Emms features a portrait of two pugs, one sitting and the other standing. Both have their faces turned toward the viewer. The English artist, John Emms (1844-1912) was an avid hunter and became famous for his paintings of sporting scenes, horses and dogs, particularly Foxhounds and Terriers. He married a woman from Lyndhurst in 1880, and after a brief residence in London, they returned to Lyndhurst where they established a home and studio called The Firs. Emms lived there for the remainder of his life. He was famous not only for his artwork, but also for his big personality, flamboyant style of dressing, and often careless spending of money.
