Vintage illustration Victorian Era black and white fairy tales story image by Sir John Tenniel in Lewis Carroll's book Through the Looking Glass, 1871.
Alice is portrayed as a quaintly logical girl, sometimes even pedantic. She is seven years old but acts much older. Tweedledum and Tweedledee are thought to be twin brothers, the Tweedle brother characters never contradict each other. Here Alice meets the boys in the forest while she is on her journey.
