Vintage Black Cats Art Kitchen Towel

A tea towel for cat lovers featuring a pen and ink drawing of a black cat waving his wild tail as he walks through snowy woods. The freedom loving feline is the star of the children's story The Cat That Walks By Himself. Written and illustrated by Rudyard Kipling, it first featured in the 1902 edition of his Just So stories for children. Unlike the dog, the independent moggy refuses to be tamed by Man or Woman, announcing: 'I am not a friend and I am not a servant. I am the Cat who walks by himself and all places are alike to me.' Especially for Alice in Wonderland fans, I've added the smiling face of the Cheshire Cat character, grinning down on the lone cat. This illustration by John Tenniel is also in black and white, but I've added a dash of yellow to the eccentric cat's eyes.
