On a journey to Surinam (South America) in 1699, a quite dangerous one, she drew (scientific studies) all sorts of exotic animals, including this scarlet ibis. Its feathers are a beautiful brilliant orange red/pink color.
The original painting is from the famous Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
