Vintage Fruits of Victory Poster T-Shirt

Our fun t shirt for gardeners and fans of allotments shows a vintage World War I poster created around 1919 to encourage women to save food by growing their own crops and preserving and canning their fruit and vegetable harvest at home. Called The Fruits of Victory, the poster was produced for the National War Garden Commission and published by F.M. Lupton, Publisher, Inc. By artist Leonebel Jacobs, the painting shows a brave and noble looking young woman dressed in stars and stripes holding a glass jar of pickled green vegetables aloft in one hand while with the other she points to a feast of vegetables and jars of preserved food. There are apples, pears, tomatoes, sweetcorn and all sorts of tasty foods in front of her.
