This great, old, early 1900's postcard image is one of many which were popular at that time. They were probably introduced with the aim of marketing popularity like other "holiday" postcards, These postcards bring to mind things like the traditional Sadie Hawkins day dances, etc.
Leap Year day, that one day every 4 years, was seemingly the only opportunity for the females to ask a man to dance, or perhaps to date, or even to propose marriage. The postcards were a fun reminder that the day was near.
