Vintage Maxfield Parrish Alphabet Throw Pillow

“Alphabet”, Maxfield Parrish, 1909; Oil on board. Maxfield Parrish, 1870 – 1966) was an American painter and illustrator active in the first half of the twentieth century. He is known for his distinctive saturated hues and idealized neo-classical imagery. A young boy is at the center of this print sitting on the capital letter “E” reading a book titled “a b c”. He is completely surrounded by every letter of the alphabet in every color and shape. The black letters in this print spell out “The Collier’s National Weekly”. Parrish did many covers for this American magazine that was founded by Peter Fenelon Collier and published from 1888 to 1957.
