It shows the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus Christ, sitting peacefully in the portico colonnade of a rose garden. There is a golden halo behind Mary's head, symbolizing her religiosity and virtuousness. Red roses are in bloom behind her. The original painting was completed in 1898.
