Volcanoes National Park Rwanda Postcard

Volcanoes National Park in northwest Rwanda is one of the most famous conservation areas in Africa, protecting the steep slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes. It is a critical sanctuary for the endangered mountain gorillas, and trekking to see them in their natural habitat is a major draw for visitors. The park is characterized by its high altitude montane ecosystem, including bamboo forests, open grasslands, and Afro-alpine vegetation. Five of the eight Virunga volcanoes, including Karisimbi, Bisoke, and Sabyinyo, lie within the park boundaries. The dense rainforests and misty peaks create a dramatic and beautiful environment for wildlife encounters and scenic adventures.
