About This Design

WAGARA Asanoha Pattern Bandana

WAGARA Asanoha Pattern Bandana

This bandana features the traditional Japanese Asanoha pattern, known for its geometric hexagonal design made up of interlocking triangles. The Asanoha pattern is one of the auspicious motifs symbolizing health. It is inspired by the leaves of a plant traditionally used in various sacred ceremonies since ancient times. During the Heian period, the Asanoha pattern was used in the garments of Buddhist statues, gradually gaining popularity. In the Edo period, it became widely fashionable after the fifth-generation actor Iwai Hanshirō wore a light blue Asanoha-patterned kimono in the play "Yaoya Oshichi." The Asanoha pattern is also depicted in ukiyo-e, where it was often used on baby clothes. This is because the plant grows straight and strong, symbolizing the desire for the healthy growth of children. It became a custom to use this pattern on the first clothes worn by newborns to wish for their health and growth. In interior design, the Asanoha pattern has been developed into motifs for sliding doors, wallpapers, and latticework. As a symbol of good fortune, it continues to be widely used in various applications.

The bandana itself is very durable. It stands washing cycles very well. Also the bandana is quite warm when worn around the neck. Overall I'm quite satisfied with the material and the quality of the product. The design is excellent quality. Printed exactly as it is shown online with crisp lines and great detail. I was a little surprised when the bandana colors came out slightly darker than what was shown but taking into account the dye sublimation printing process and type of material I'm not disappointed. I'm very satisfied with the printed results.

These Bandana's are awesome! I ordered one for myself awhile back and then again recently as a gift for an artist that sells on etsy that I am very inspired by! Mallory loves it and that makes me so happy! These bandana's work great to be worn and used as room decoration hung on the walls or even for display use for other products! The coloration is lovely, soft material and overall great quality! They are perfect as gifts to friends or even to yourself.
